Power at McCracken Middle School has been fully restored. McCracken will open and operate on their normal in-person schedule on Monday, September 16, 2024. Bus service will operate at normal times and all before- and after-school programming will run as scheduled. More information is available HERE.

A transformer was discovered to be the likely source of the power outage. District staff, ComEd, and Meco electric worked through the night to get it repaired. McCracken will remain closed today as we run our Building Automated System to ensure all McCracken systems are functional and there are no other electrical systems that are faulty or damaged. Our expectation is with the transformer repaired there will be a safe return Monday to school and the issue will be fully resolved for the future.

McCracken Middle School experienced another power outage at approximately 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 12 and currently remains without consistent electrical service. Service crews were called to the school as soon as the power outage was detected. They began working on restoring service at approximately 11:30 p.m. Generators were checked and are functioning as needed. All systems at Middleton Elementary School and Meyer School are operating as normal. There is no impact to Middleton or Meyer at this time.
Middleton and Meyer will open and operate on their normal schedules on Friday, September 13, 2024. Bus service will operate normally at both schools. Lunch service will operate at both Meyer and Middleton.
Due to inconsistent electrical service, McCracken Middle School will be closed on Friday, September 13, 2024, and we will implement our remote learning plan at McCracken only.
