Parent-Teacher Conferences 2024-2025
Parents/guardians are invited to participate in Parent-Teacher Conferences in October and February. Conference times are available on a first come, first served basis and are scheduled to allow as many families as possible to meet with their child’s teacher(s) during the conference window.
Teachers will be available in OCTOBER for your choice of in person OR video conferences on Thursday, OCTOBER 10 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday, OCTOBER 11 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Online registration for OCTOBER conferences opens on Tuesday, OCTOBER 1 at 7:00 a.m. and closes on Tuesday, OCTOBER 8 at 3:00 p.m.
INFORMATION & HELP
► Language Interpreters. If you or someone you know would like a language interpreter to assist with conferences, please select a language in the "Special Requests" section of conference registration or contact District EL Coordinator Lyla Nissan at [email protected] or 847-676-8210.
► McCracken Registration Process. Due to the number of students that McCracken teachers serve, the conference day time constraints do not allow enough appointment slots to schedule every family. In an effort to distribute appointments equitably among middle school families, McCracken will use the following process to increase access to conferences with middle school teachers:
- Families may schedule up to three appointments with McCracken teachers when registration opens at 7:00 a.m. on OCTOBER 1.
- The appointment limit will be removed on OCTOBER 4. Families may sign up for additional conferences with available teachers until registration closes on OCTOBER 8 at 3:00 p.m.
► Teacher Contact Requests. If a teacher's schedule has no available appointments, you can request to be contacted by the teacher by clicking the “Request to be contacted” button. The Contact Request will show up on your PowerPTC dashboard and the teacher’s PowerPTC dashboard. You can remove the request at any time by clicking the red ❌ icon.
► Comments or Questions for the Teacher. Add a comment or a question after you schedule an appointment by clicking the "talk bubble." This will let the teacher know that you have questions or specific concerns that you wish to discuss during conferences.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
How will conferences be held?
All conferences will be held at the location you choose during registration: in person at your child's school OR remote via Zoom.
How can parents/guardians register for conferences if they don’t have a computer at home?
Parents/guardians can call the school office to make arrangments to use a computer there.
If I have two children at one school, can I register register each child separately so the other parent/guardian and I can meet with different teachers at the same time (instead of meeting with each teacher one after the other)?
Yes, the online registration system creates a conference schedule for each child. The parent/guardian will need to sign in to their own PowerSchool Parent Portal account to connect to PowerPTC and sign up for conferences.
Are language interpreters available to assist with a conference?
Yes. Look for and click the "lifesaver" button in the Special Request section of your conference registration and select one of the available options: Arabic, Assyrian, Gujarati, Spanish, Tagalog, Urdu, or Vietnamese. You can also call your child's school to request a language interpreter.
My child has the same teacher for two different subjects. Can I meet with the teacher twice?
Conferences are scheduled per teacher, not per subject. If a teacher is listed for more than one subject on your child's schedule, you will be able to request a conference for only one subject. Your child’s teacher will discuss all subjects within the allotted time period.
My child goes to another classroom for some subjects. Will I be able to schedule a conference with the other teacher(s)?
- At Meyer: Preschool and Kindergarten Homeroom and Speech teachers and the Kindergarten EL teacher will be available for scheduling
- At Middleton: Homeroom teachers and Ms. Tucker (ELP)
- At McCracken: Academic, Speech, and Trimester/Semester Specials teachers will be available for scheduling
What if there are no conferences available when I try to sign up?
Conference times are available on a first come, first served basis and have been arranged to allow as many families as possible to meet with their child’s teacher(s) during the conference window. If a teacher's schedule is full, you can request to be contacted by the teacher by clicking the “Request to be contacted” button. The Contact Request will show up on your PowerPTC dashboard and the teacher’s PowerPTC dashboard. The teacher will contact you to make arrangements.
My child’s parent/guardian lives at a different address. Can we meet separately with our child’s teacher(s)?
A parent/guardian who lives at a different address can schedule a separate conference. Each parent/guardian will need to sign in to their own PowerSchool Parent Portal account to connect to PowerPTC and sign up for conferences. If a non-custodial parent does not have a PowerSchool Parent Portal account, please call 847-676-8326 for assistance during regular school hours.
Can I review, change, or cancel my conference reservation?
You can review, change, and cancel your conference registration until 3:00 p.m. on the Monday before conferences by logging back in to your PowerSchool Parent Portal account and connecting to PowerPTC. Select the child's name from the list of active students and review/update the information on the Conference Schedule page.
What if I arrive late to my conference or my conference runs long?
In the interest of everyone's time, all conferences will begin and end promptly as often as possible.
How late is the conference website open for registration?
Conference registration is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until 3:00 p.m. on the Monday before conferences.
