Student Services

Skokie School District 73.5’s vision is to build a “foundation for learning, leadership, and life.”

The Department of Student Services supports any child with differentiated learning needs. This includes students that have identified disabilities and students that are English Learners (ELs). It is our mission to coordinate programs to meet the diverse academic and behavioral needs of students through systematic, evidence-based instruction, curriculum, and services, in order for them to achieve at their highest levels.

Guiding Principles

We believe...

  • In the value that neurodiverse and linguistically diverse learners bring to the classroom
  • All children should be educated in their least restrictive environment
  • We can help bridge learning gaps by offering a continuum of services within and outside of the general education classroom
  • Behavioral, emotional, and social learning are critical components of student learning
  • Staff, families, and the community must partner to promote each student’s success and well-being
  • In the importance of preparing independent and creative thinkers
  • All staff share responsibility for educating our students

Restraint and Time Out

In accordance with Public Act 102-0339, District 73.5 has created a Restraint and Time Out (RTO) Plan to reduce the number of restrictive interventions used to support students who present an imminent risk of harm to self or others. If you would like a copy of the RTO plan on file with the Illinois State Board of Education for District 73.5, please contact Angela DeMay at [email protected].
