Frequently Asked Questions

e-Learning days will be used when school is closed on regular attendance days due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Please check the District’s Website (www.sd735.org) for up-to-date details regarding which days are student attendance days during this unprecedented closure. 

Instruction on e-Learning days will include time to work on lessons independently.  Lessons are structured to consider a wide variety of learner needs and supports. Students may not be required to submit a product for each lesson. We are currently awaiting ISBE direction regarding grading requirements. Teachers will post e-Learning lessons on their teacher web pages and email students and families by 9:00 a.m. on each e-Learning day with a link to their web pages along with any additional pertinent information. Packets for PreK and Kindergarten will also be available for families who would prefer hard copies.

Students in grades PK-8 will check in for attendance daily using a Google Form found on www.sd735.org/elearning that will be accessible beginning at 9:00 a.m. on the e-Learning day. Students who are unable to participate in e-Learning activities due to illness or other excused absence reasons should follow the regular procedures for reporting a student absence. If families of students in grades PK and K do not have access to a device to complete the daily Google Form, parents may send in a written note verifying attendance during the e-Learning day when school resumes.

Teachers will be available to students through their school email during the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Teacher emails can be found on the district’s website under “About Us” and then “All Staff Directory."

Teachers will hold office hours from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m .and 1:30 - 2:00 p.m. to respond to family or student inquiries immediately.

Students in grades PreK and K will not be given a school-issued device that can be sent home. Hard copies of learning activities will be available during PreK & K Packet Pick-up. Click here for more information. Digital copies of the packets will be posted on the teacher web pages. 

Students in grades 1-4 have access to devices in schools but do not typically take them home.  To ensure access during e-Learning days, families may check out a Chromebook. Devices will be available for pick up on Tuesday, March 31st at Middleton Elementary School. Click here for more information.

Students in grades 5-8 have school-issued Chromebooks and took them home from school on March 13th.

A support email is available for all e-Learning technical support questions. Parents/Guardians and students may use this email for support with any questions related to Skokie School District 73.5 e-Learning tools: [email protected]. Students and families will be provided instructions that demonstrate how to access the Google Form for attendance, student gmail to access teacher email, and how to access teacher webpages for learning activities and lessons. If families do not have access to the internet at home in grades 1-8, the school district has acquired T-Mobile MiFis to assist with this issue. The T-Mobile MiFis units are for Skokie School District 73.5 take home devices. Families that wish to have internet access at home for use with a school device, but do not have it, can contact [email protected]. The MiFi device will be lent to families and the unit must be returned at the end of the school year or upon request. 

e-Learning days are an asynchronous experience, meaning that the learning is not happening in real-time. Students are able to work on their assignments when it makes sense for them.
