1:1 Device Take Home Program

Google Workspace & Chromebooks

Skokie School District 73.5 is a Google Workspace school district. Students in grades K-8 and all staff have an account in our Google Workspace domain, which is an integrated communication and collaboration solution hosted by Google and managed by Skokie School District 73.5. Google Workspace serves as the foundation for the District's digital ecosystem. Students and staff can communicate, store files, and collaborate on documents, spreadsheets, and presentations in real time from school, work, or home.

Skokie School District 73.5 provides every 5th-8th grade student with a Chromebook, which is an Internet device that supports web-based applications. Chromebooks also have Google products built-in and, within seconds of logging in, students can access their personal Google Workspace account and tools.

Students use their Chromebooks in the classroom and can take them home with parent/guardian consent. The Skokie735 Student Device Agreement is provided during e-Registration for parent/guardian review and response.

Safety

Skokie School District 73.5 uses Securly, a content filtering system, on all District-issued student devices. This system helps protect students by filtering internet content no matter where the device is being used—even at home. Families can monitor their students activity through the Securly Home platform. Learn how to access Securly Home with this linked Help Center articleWhile Securly is an effective tool for promoting safe and responsible online use, it works best alongside family rules and supervision when students are using devices.

Internet Access

The District has mobile Internet hotspot devices available for students who do not have Internet access at home. The hotspot can be requested and loaned to qualifying families for the duration of the school year. It must be returned upon request or with the Chromebook at the end of the year.
