Elizabeth Meyer Kindergarten Program

Kindergarten is an exciting time for children and parents/guardians. We look forward to enhancing your child’s learning through a strong partnership with you. Studies have shown that strong family and school partnerships will lead to a successful experience not only in kindergarten, but throughout your child’s educational career.

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
8:40 a.m. to 2:25 p.m.
  • Arrival 8:30-8:40 a.m.
  • Dismissal 2:25-2:30 p.m.
Tuesday
8:40 a.m. to 1:55 p.m.
  • Arrival 8:30-8:40 a.m.
  • Dismissal 1:55-2:00 p.m.

Curriculum and Instruction

  • Teacher-designed units using common curricular resources
  • Core subject areas include Literacy, Math, Social Studies, Science, and Social-Emotional Learning
  • Specials classes
    • Physical Education (P.E.) every school day
    • Music once per week
    • Art once per week
    • Library once per week
  • Standards-referenced report cards issued three times per year

After-School Enrichment

  • Kindergarten students only. 
  • Classes are provided by outside companies, such as iCook, iSTEAM, Young Rembrandts, Kaleidoscope Dance Company, Amazing Minds, Sports and Games, Bitty Ballers Basketball, and Discovery Language (Spanish). 
  • Classes fill up VERY quickly! Make sure to register when Enrichment registration opens.
  • The first EnrichMY brochure will be shared in early September. Subsequent brochures are shared at the beginning of each season.

Bus Service

  • Bus service is available to all Kindergarten students.
  • The 2024-2025 transportation fee is $250 for Meyer Kindergarten students who live 1.5 miles or more from Meyer School. See the district's Transportation & Bus Information page for complete details, service map, and registration form.
  • Transportation fees can be paid online through the RevTrak WebStore.
  • Buildings & Grounds engineer Mr. Alvin Carter drives Meyer's district-owned school bus. A paraprofessional rides the bus to support students.

Food Service

  • Breakfast is available to purchase for kindergartners from 8:10 to 8:25 a.m., on a drop-in basis. Please enter at Door 12E, just south of the main entrance.
  • Lunch is a 30-minute period.
  • Students can bring lunch from home or buy a school lunch (vegetarian, Halal, and Kosher options are available).
  • The lunch menu is published on the district website each month.
  • Fund your child’s lunch account through the online WebStore (MealTime registration is required).

Recess

  • Recess is a 30-minute period.
  • Our district uses the Child Care Weather Watch Chart to help us decide whether it is safe for students to go outside for recess.
  • If it is raining or snowing heavily outdoors, we will remain indoors.
  • Students should wear appropriate outerwear for the weather (coats, gloves, hats, boots, etc.)
