Dear District 73.5 Parents, Guardians, and Staff,

At its meeting tonight, the Board of Education approved a revision to the School Year 2025-2026 School Calendar. These revisions were recommended because the previously approved calendar did not align with the Niles Township Schools agreed-upon guidelines, especially regarding start date and Spring Break. Specifically, the start of school was too early to make collaboration with Niles Township District for Special Education (NTDSE) effective at the beginning of the year and Spring Break did not align with District 219 schools or any other district in the township.

Because of these differences, I recommended the Board revise the calendar for next year.  Please note the following specific changes:

  • The first day of school for 1st through 8th grade students is Monday, August 25, 2025
  • The first day of school for Kindergarten students is Tuesday, August 26, 2025
  • The first day of school for Preschool students is Tuesday, September 2, 2025
  • Spring Break is Monday, March 30 through Friday, April 3, 2026
  • The last day of school for all students is Wednesday, June 3, 2026 (if no emergency days are used)
