Dear Skokie 73.5 Families,

Thank you for your continued patience with the electrical service outage. While crews from our electrical service providers are still working to restore service at McCracken Middle School, we are not able to guarantee service restoration for the opening of school tomorrow. McCracken is the hub for our district’s network and security systems. Consequently, we cannot ensure consistent network and security system operation while students, staff, and families are in each of our buildings.

Prioritizing student, family, and staff safety, all district schools will remain closed and we will continue with remote learning tomorrow, September 4, 2024. All before-school and after-school activities will be canceled.

Middleton’s Curriculum Night, scheduled for September 4, 2024, will be hosted asynchronously. McCracken Middle School’s Curriculum Night, scheduled for September 5, 2024, will also be hosted asynchronously. This means that we will not hold Curriculum Night in person. Instead, each school will send their families an email message containing their Curriculum Night content that each family will have an opportunity to explore at their own pace.

Throughout the day tomorrow, we will provide updates on the progress toward restoring electrical service and plans for learning on September 5, 2024. Should you have any questions along the way, please contact [email protected].

We recognize that continuing remote learning for another day is extremely challenging for all district families. We are grateful for your flexibility and patience as we continue working to keep students, families, and staff safe.

Sincerely,

Dr. Zipporah Hightower
Superintendent
