DISTRICT UPDATES
FACILITIES PLANNING ENGAGEMENT TEAM
Skokie School District 73.5 is addressing significant challenges posed by aging facilities that no longer meet our goals and needs. In response, we are developing a long-term facility improvement plan and need community input to help shape the future of our schools. It is important to have your voices and we invite you to learn more about the process. Please visit the the Facilities & Infrastructure Plan section of our website for more information and background documents.
Two community meetings are scheduled in October from to 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the McCracken Middle School Multipurpose Room:
- Tuesday, October 15
- Monday, October 28
If you wish to attend these meetings, please submit this Invitation to Facilities Planning Engagement Team form. Your attendance does not commit you to long-term participation. These meetings are an opportunity to connect with other community members and decide whether you are interested in supporting the district's facility improvement plan.
Thank you for considering this opportunity to help shape the future of our district.

MIDDLETON PARENT FEEDBACK REQUESTED
The ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL section of 2024-2025 Student/Family Handbook states that Middleton students are not permitted to ride their bicycles to and from school. Students may begin riding bikes to school when they attend McCracken.
We have received questions about this policy from staff and students. One step we are taking in reviewing this policy is to invite feedback from parents. If you would like to provide feedback on Middleton’s bike policy, you may do so by completing this Middleton Bike Survey form.
The Skokie School District 73.5 Board of Education acknowledged the amazing McCracken Middle School Music Department during their October 8 meeting. A resolution was adopted recognizing the continued excellence of three faculty members of the McCracken Middle School Music Department – Chip De Stefano, Amy Keipert, and Cesar Mendoza – for their dedication, passion, and superior direction which has resulted in numerous accolades and awards at both the state and national level. This included Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and the 7th and 8th grade choirs including Hornet Harmony. We are incredibly proud of the accomplishments of our faculty and students and appreciate the Board of Education’s recognition and support of our fine arts programming. Please read the full resolution HERE.

INFRASTRUCTURE & FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY. All financial decisions and investments will meet the needs of our diverse learners and staff and promote academic and social growth. We will provide a safe, inclusive, flexible, and innovative space for teaching, learning, and growing.
TEACHING & LEARNING. All students will engage in learning experiences that are cohesive and articulated across PreK-8, flexibly designed to engage all learners and leading to rigorous outcomes for all. We will be a future-focused, real-world learning environment that is responsive, accessible, and meaningful for all. We will become a model district on the use of data for making instructional, curriculum, and programmatic decisions.
Equity Mission Statement
WE BELIEVE that inclusivity and belonging is the foundation for equity.
ALL CHILDREN CAN LEARN, at high achievement levels, when equity is infused into every aspect of education.
WE ACKNOWLEDGE the systemic inequities present in school systems and recognize the impact they continue to have on marginalized communities.
WE COMMIT to teaching, learning, and growing in order to identify and dismantle inequitable systems and to create a community where barriers are removed so that everyone can reach their full potential.
WE BELIEVE that students succeed when they can see themselves represented in our staff, curriculum, opportunities, and our shared environment. We accomplish this through professional development, curriculum revision, community engagement, and systems evaluations.
WE RECOGNIZE the need to teach our students to identify the origins of unjust systems and empower them to use their critical thinking skills and agency to responsibly disrupt the policies and practices that perpetuate inequalities.
